In July 2012, the Municipality of Port Hope, in partnership with the Heritage Business Improvement Area (HBIA), Port Hope and District Chamber of Commerce, and Architectural Conservancy of Ontario Port Hope Branch (ACO), initiated a long term, multi-faceted downtown revitalization project to rejuvenate its business core, highlight our proud heritage, and raise our profile as a prime tourism destination.
This was an outstanding opportunity for our community, with local businesses, building owners, community organizations, and residents to work together to plan the future of our downtown.
The successful continuation of Downtown Revitalization involves the implementation of the Strategic Plan recommendations. The Strategic Plan, endorsed by Council in September 2014, is intended to be realized over time and as resources permit.
The recommendations form key guidance as a blueprint for direction, flexible to allow modifications due to process and change and will be developed through community based input and implemented through further detailed design over time.
